I was recently in Visakhapatnam, and frankly, I was surprised how everything is coming to life there. The locals were talking about plans to open floating casinos and develop tourism in the Bay of Bengal. This should give boost to the economy, but I don’t really understand how this works in practice. Has anyone encountered something similar or seen how such projects affect cities?

Sometimes I'm surprised how quickly coastal areas can change. Just couple of years ago I was in a place that was considered backwater, and now there are scooter rentals, excursions and new hotels on every corner. It's as if everything changed overnight. It seems that when movement towards tourism begins, some kind of internal wave of renewal is immediately launched.
